“O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me.” (Surah Yusuf: 4)
Imagine how Hazrat Yaqub (A.S) felt – he knew this dream had a great meaning. Therefore, he softly advised his son:
“My son, do not relate your dream to your brothers, or they will plot against you. Indeed, Shaytan is a clear enemy to mankind.” (Surah Yusuf: 5)

3. Thrown into the Well – Betrayal in Hazrat Yusuf ka Waqia
Once far from home, the brothers turned against Yusuf (A.S). They grabbed him and threw him into a deep, dark well. Imagine his innocent eyes, tears flowing as he looked up to the sky, wondering why his own brothers betrayed him. Yet his heart still held faith in Allah’s plan.
The brothers returned home with his shirt stained with false blood. They cried to their father, claiming a wolf had eaten Yusuf. But Hazrat Yaqub (A.S) felt the pain deeply and knew their story was false. With tears he said:
“Rather, your souls have enticed you to something. So patience is most fitting. And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe.” (Surah Yusuf: 18)
4. Rescued from the Well and Sold into Slavery
Later, a passing caravan stopped to draw water. They were shocked to find a beautiful boy at the bottom of the well. Because of this, they took him out and sold him as a slave in Egypt. Despite this harsh turn of life, Allah was preparing him for a greater purpose.
5. Life in Egypt and the Test of Taqwa
In Egypt, Yusuf (A.S) grew up in the minister’s home, admired for his beauty and noble manners. When the minister’s wife, Zulaikha, tried to seduce him, he said:
“Indeed, he is my master who has made my stay good.” (Surah Yusuf: 23)
He ran towards the door, choosing Allah’s pleasure over temptation. This showed his deep modesty, taqwa, and strength of faith.

The King was so impressed that he freed Yusuf (A.S) and appointed him as a minister over Egypt’s treasures. From the darkness of a well and the sadness of prison, Allah raised him to honour and leadership.

Years later, famine brought his brothers to Egypt seeking food. Yusuf (A.S) recognised them instantly, but they did not recognise him. When he finally revealed his identity, they stood speechless with guilt and fear.
But Yusuf (A.S), with tears in his eyes, said:
“No blame will there be upon you today. Allah will forgive you; and He is the most merciful of the merciful.” (Surah Yusuf: 92)
He forgave them completely. Imagine that heart – betrayed so deeply, yet he chose mercy over revenge.
